Waterproofing Update

I was told this morning that the holdup now is the distributor is out of the waterproofing material, and that it is supposed to arrive on Thursday. The good news is since last night, the chance of rain on Thursday went from 30% to 10%. The bad news is they may be again tearing down and rebuilding two exterior walls of the basement. Mind you this is NOT a change order, but I won't vent on here just yet. This time it would be where each wall faces the porch. I'll find out tomorrow what our next move is.

Still The Same...

It's now been 10 days since they poured the slab in the basement, and nothing has been done since. May is only a week away. Seems like it will be a challenge for them to finish this house on schedule only working a couple of days every two weeks. The holdup now is waterproofing the basement walls, and it needs to be dry for a while for them to do that. Rain on Monday and Tuesday of last week put a stop to that procedure. It rained again Friday night, but with a lot of sun and wind since, it is now about as dry as it typically gets for April. Once they get the waterproofing done, framing will be the next step. That of course will be a dramatic change. It's Monday now, and the biggest chance of rain here through the weekend is 30% on Thursday. Of course that may change many times before then. Fingers crossed we can get going again soon.

We Have Floor

The concrete and pumping trucks were back on Friday, but this time they poured the slab for the basement. I was very happy they got it in when they did this week as the rain came in Sunday night and lasted, on and off, through Tuesday. I took Hank with me Friday morning to check things out after we got done with his appointment at the vet, but he was such a distraction to the workers that I don't think I'll be taking him back.
If the doorway above looks narrow, it isn't because the room is so massive. After they initially built it in the wrong place (around the right center of that back wall), they cut the new opening in the correct location... only it is 6 inches too narrow. I guess they will get to that at some point.

Block by Block

Rain showers every hour or so all day keep things in check on Thursday, but the crew made some very noticeable progress Friday with the foundation walls.

I'm standing where the front steps will be.

A view looking South.

Most of the blocks that havent been set on this lower side will be a more decorative style. The others on side and front will have a stone veneer over them.

Hole In The Ground And Then Some

We've been about a week and a half since the crew last worked at the house site, but part of that lag was deciding on the basement foundation. Hopefully they'll be out there again later this week if the weather permits.  But I'm just now getting these photos posted on the blog too. Though the site isn't a safe playground, it is pretty hard to contain the kids.

This is the view looking South. Kaitlyn is in the area of the master bath.

Evan on the edge of the living room.

Another view of the site... looking Southeast.

The kids walking the maze of footings.
